There is a vacant parcel of land in my town that not only is a perfect location for natural exploration but it is an area that provides protection for local wildlife. Situated between two large developments, much of the wildlife that was displaced during Williamstown's housing expansion can be found there. It is accessible to me through my backyard gate and my son and I spend numerous hours wandering around and exploring nature. We also spend time out there maintaining the trails and cleaning up what others leave behind. In the springtime, we plant seeds as an offering for the woodland creatures in hopes that food will grow for them out there away from my garden. During the summer, we offer guided tours to the neighborhood kids and parents and share the knowledge we have collected. It is our mission to protect and preserve this natural treasure, not only for our own exploration and our neighbors but for the creatures that have found a home there.
